    Mark Twain Primary School is a PreK-3 building with approximately 420 students.  Mark Twain hosts the Kankakee School District’s Preschool For All Program and Dual Language Magnet Program.  
    The Dual Language Magnet Program provides a unique setting in which English learners and English proficient students are grouped in the same classroom and receive instruction in two languages. The program is currently offered in preschool through third grade. The goals for all students in our Dual Language Magnet Program are as follows: 
    • Academic language proficiency in one’s primary language 
    • Academic language proficiency in a second language
    • Academic achievement in all subject areas
    • Appreciation for cultural diversity
    All second and third grade students are provided a laptop for use during the school day.  Students will use these laptops as an instructional tool to provide each student with an individualized learning experience.  Students in our Dual Language Magnet receive an iPad for home and school use.
     
    Mark Twain welcomes parent and community participation.  Our PTO offers several activities to support our students.  Our activities include our Sweetheart Swirl, Fitness Night and Family Movie Night.  At Mark Twain, our mission is “Building Success Together.”
