Kankakee School District #111 provides supplemental education and supportive services to migrant children. The Migrant Education Program (MEP) is a federally funded program that runs for six weeks during the summer, and offers the migrant students a full range of academic and supportive services including: Portable Assisted Study Sequence (PASS) for high school credits, Health Services, Physical Education, Mathematics Achievement = Success (MAS), Educational Field Trips, and more.
The purpose of the MEP is to provide migrant students, preschool through high school, with a high-quality and comprehensive educational program in order to reduce educational disruption and other problems that often result from repeated moves. The Kankakee School District #111 MEP is also making every effort to identify and provide services to Out of School Youth (OSY) within the Kankakee and Iroquois Counties. OSY are students up through age 21 that have not obtained a high school diploma or GED.
